HOUSTON (April 14, 2026) – On April 11, 2026, Camp For All, a local nonprofit that transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs, hosted its annual Over The Edge fundraiser at Howard Hughes Communities’™ iconic The Woodlands® Towers at The Waterway.

At the event, 50 fundraisers stepped over the edge and turned bold descents into meaningful impact by raising $160,000 for Camp For All. Every dollar raised will help serve nearly 9,000 children and adults of all abilities throughout the year at its 206-acre barrier-free facility in Burton, Texas, where campers discover independence, build confidence, and experience the joy of being themselves.

“Over The Edge is so much more than a fundraising event. Faith Malton, who was born with one arm, returned this year for a third time to support Camp For All and go over the edge. Zack Ruhl, who had both legs amputated at the age of two due to a medical condition, said, “I lost both my legs when I was two, but I never lost my drive. I live for pushing my limits and showing people that the only thing really holding you back is your mind. Rappelling for Camp For All wasn’t just about the drop; it was about proving that fear doesn’t get to decide what you’re capable of. Can’t wait till next year!”

Sequins, Stetsons, and $1.2 million raised for local nonprofit that transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs

HOUSTON (January 28, 2026) – Camp For All, a nationally recognized leader in special needs camping for all ages, today announced the resounding success of its annual Houston Gala, Disco Rodeo: A Boots & Boogie Ball, held on January 24, 2026, at The Revaire in Houston. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of its donors, the event raised $1.2 million for barrier-free Camp For All, fueling its mission to provide life-changing experiences to thousands of campers throughout the year.

“The night was an inspiring reminder that Camp For All is powered by the incredible generosity of people who believe in our mission,” said Pat Prior Sorrells, President and CEO of Camp For All. “Because of our donors, sponsors, and supporters, children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs are discovering life at Camp. The impact of their support will be felt for years to come.”

The evening honored two distinguished champions of Camp For All: The Charles Jago Elder Foundation and Trustees, Sarah Hastings, Mary Fleming, and David Lummis, and immediate past Camp For All Board Chair Julie Taetz. Their vision, goodwill, and leadership have helped shape Camp For All into the life-changing place it is today.

“Being recognized by Camp For All is deeply meaningful to me, because this organization and its mission hold a very special place in my heart,” said Taetz. “Camp For All represents hope, possibility, and unconditional belonging for so many children and adults, and it is an honor to support a mission I am profoundly passionate about.”

Former camper Sebastian Driver and his mother, Garia Moore, delivered one of the evening’s most powerful moments as the guest speakers, sharing Sebastian’s personal Camp journey and the lasting impact it has had on his life. He attended Camp For All from the age of seven until he was 22 with Camp For All nonprofit Partner, Easter Seals of Greater Houston and its Camp Most and Camp Smiles for children, teens, and young adults who have cerebral palsy. Drawing from his own experience, Driver spoke about how Camp For All fostered a sense of confidence and independence, while empowering him to embrace challenges and believe in his own abilities.

“Camp For All is where I met all my beautiful, amazing friends,” Driver shared. His mother added, “Camp is where Sebastian learned to be himself.” Their words reminded us that Camp For All is more than a place – it’s a feeling of belonging, confidence, and independence that endures long after Camp ends. Sebastian closed with a powerful message: “Please open your heart to more kids like me.”

The celebration included an exciting milestone with the announcement of Camp For All Chappell Hill, a second innovative, barrier-free Camp located in Chappell Hill, Texas. Like Camp For All Burton, Camp For All Chappell Hill will feature adaptive recreational environments, fully accessible cabins, medical facilities, and food services to meet a variety of dietary needs on nearly 380 acres donated by the Charles Jago Elder Foundation, founded by Virginia and John Elder in memory of their son, Nick.

Scheduled to open in summer 2027, this expansion will have the capacity to double the number of campers served each year, marking a significant step forward in ensuring even more children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs can experience the life-changing magic of Camp For All.

Today, Camp For All serves nearly 9,000 campers each year and has hosted close to 200,000 campers since its founding in 1998. The addition of Camp For All Chappell Hill in summer 2027 will allow those numbers to grow significantly, enabling even more campers and families to experience the life‑changing power of barrier‑free Camp.

Crafting the Next Camp For All Experience

Camp For All Chappell Hill is being brought to life by an experienced project team. Tellepsen is serving as the general contractor for the majority of the campsite, overseeing all major facilities with the exception of the Cabins and the Equine Barn. Camden is leading the construction of the Cabins as the designated general contractor for that portion of the project, while Rhodes Building Systems serves as the general contractor for the Equine Barn.

Architect Peter Boudreaux, AIA, Curry Boudreaux Architects, is designing Camp For All Chappell Hill. He also served as the architect for Camp For All Burton, ensuring continuity in vision, quality, and the barrier‑free design that defines Camp For All.

The development of Camp For All Chappell Hill will be made possible through Blazing New Trails, a comprehensive capital campaign that represents the most ambitious fundraising effort in the organization’s history. Guided by the shared belief that every individual deserves the chance to discover life beyond their diagnosis or disability, the campaign invites donors, foundations, corporations, and individuals to invest in expanding Camp For All.

Additional support is still needed to fully fund construction, expand programming, recruit and train staff, and ensure long‑term sustainability for Camp For All Burton and Camp For All Chappell Hill.

The event raised more than $500,000, directly supporting the Camp For All mission to provide life-changing experiences to thousands of campers each year.

Former camper Kenzie Kelley delivered a moving speech as the evening’s guest speaker, sharing her personal journey and the profound impact Camp For All has had on her following a stage four cancer diagnosis. Kelley spoke about how Camp empowered her can-do attitude and helped give her the strength to face life’s challenges with hope and resilience. Her heartfelt story reminded everyone that the transformative experiences she and so many others have had are made possible by the generosity of Camp For All supporters.

“Camp For All exists because of the generosity of people like you whose gifts mean the world to thousands of campers and their families,” Kelley told the nearly 400 attendees. “On behalf of every child and adult whose life will be changed because of your support, thank you for making Camp possible – For All!”

Marita and Robert Mikeska were honored at the gala for their decades-long commitment to Camp For All, having played key roles in expanding its reach and deepening its impact. Their tireless advocacy and generous support have helped create life-changing experiences for campers, leaving a legacy of inclusion, joy, and possibilities.

“Camp For All is a vital cornerstone of our community, bringing people together and reminding us all of the power of compassion and connection,” the Mikeskas said. “We have seen firsthand how it lifts up children and adults who face challenges, giving them confidence and a sense of belonging. Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Smitty’s Cafe and Bakery in Brenham. The evening’s auction was a standout success, featuring an array of generously donated items and experiences — from weekend getaways to culinary adventures — that inspired spirited bidding and helped drive the night’s record-breaking fundraising total.

Houston (June 16, 2025) — Camp For All, a unique, barrier-free Camp in Burton, Texas that transforms the world for thousands of children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs each year, today announced the appointment of Brian Frazier as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). In this newly created position, Frazier will report to Camp For All President and Chief Executive Officer Pat Prior Sorrells.

As COO, Frazier will be responsible for the development, execution, and measurement of short- and long-term strategies to drive continued growth for Camp For All, including the number of campers who come to Camp. Camp For All has the ability to serve nearly 9,000 campers per year and since opening its gates in 1998 more than 190,000 children and adults have participated.

“Brian’s proven expertise, deep commitment to service, and passion for mission-focused work make him the ideal leader to help guide Camp For All into its next chapter and beyond,” said Sorrells. “As we continue to expand our capacity and programs to reach even more campers, Brian’s leadership will be instrumental in our efforts. Frazier is a purpose-driven leader with more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and more than 20 years of experience in management roles in engineering, project management, finance, and large-scale nonprofit operations.

“I am honored to join such an innovative and highly respected organization like Camp For All and help create meaningful, transformative experiences for children and adults with challenges,” said Frazier. “Camp For All is a place where everyone belongs, and I am excited to advance its mission by ensuring every camper has the opportunity to thrive.”

Most recently, Frazier served as Executive Director of Team World Vision, where he mobilized fundraisers to support the world’s largest non-governmental provider of clean water and expand the organization’s impact. He also held leadership positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure at World Vision, including Operations Director for Ministry Partnerships, Global Savings Director, and Manager of Policy and Standardization. Prior to his work with World Vision, Frazier was Head of Operations at Ujjivan Financial Services, one of India’s largest microfinance banks, and began his career as an Equipment and Reliability Engineer at Marathon Oil.

Frazier earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.

HOUSTON (April 10, 2025) – On Saturday, April 5, Camp For All, a local nonprofit that transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs, successfully hosted its annual Over The Edge event at Howard Hughes’ iconic building in The Woodlands, Texas, The Woodlands Towers at The Waterway.

Funds raised at Over The Edge support the nearly 9,000 campers that Camp For All welcomes each year at its 206-acre, barrier-free facility in Washington County near Brenham, Texas. More than 30 fundraisers rappelled down The Woodlands Towers at The Waterway, raising more than $120,000 for Camp For All. Event sponsors Howard Hughes, Shell Trading (US) Company, Houston Police Officers Union, Greystar, and KBR raised funds and awareness for the event.

“Over The Edge is one of our most exciting and talked about fundraising events of the year. Whether you were one of our fearless rappelers who descended 20 floors, generous donors, or family members, friends, and volunteers who spent the day with us, we appreciate your time, energy, and support,” said Pat Prior Sorrells, President and CEO of Camp For All.

Dye remarked, “I had no idea what to expect  when I said ‘yes’ to going Over The Edge, but I am so happy to have supported such a wonderful organization with a mission that transforms lives.”

Barrier-Free Camp Brings Rappelling Experience to Woodlands Office Tower

HOUSTON (February  10, 2025) – Camp For All, a local nonprofit barrier-free camp experience that transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities, or special needs, will host its annual Over The Edge fundraiser and rappelling event in The Woodlands, Texas. The annual event will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, with fundraisers rappelling over the edge of 9950 Woodloch Forest Tower, a 31-story office building—one of two Class AAA premier buildings, part of The Woodlands® Towers at The Waterway— thanks to Howard Hughes Holdings Inc.

Camp For All aims to raise $200,000 through this annual fundraising event. For the past three years, the organization has successfully beat its fundraising goal thanks to generous donors and individual rappellers who commit to raising a minimum of $1,500 to secure their spot. Family and friends of rappellers are encouraged to attend throughout the day and cheer on the daring supporters who choose to scale the building.

With first rappellers gearing up as early as 8 a.m., their journey down will begin on the rooftop and end on the spacious 11th-floor rooftop terrace for a 20-story descent. Camp For All is able to accommodate up to 70 participants as long as they meet the fundraising requirements.

Local Nonprofit Hosted Fabulous Carnival Celebration

HOUSTON (January 29, 2025) –  Camp For All, a nonprofit that transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses, disabilities or special needs through barrier-free experiences, hosted its Krewe de Camp For All Gala on January 25 at The Revaire. The sold-out gala welcomed nearly 600 guests and successfully raised over $1.2 million for the mission of Camp For All. 

Co-Chairs Heather and Paul Palmer and Rickie and Stacy Duke spearheaded the grand celebration, which featured inspiring testimonies from Camp For All campers, a silent auction, a wine pull and an exciting live auction. During the thrilling auction, the winning bid of $40,000 purchased the fantastic Kentucky Derby Package. Additionally, former camper Austin Hanson’s artwork sold for $10,000, bringing a huge smile to his face. The evening honored Karen and Mike Odegard and The Hamill Foundation, who have made an indelible impact on thousands of campers and their families.

Throughout the evening, Master of Ceremonies Frank Billingsley kept the crowd excited and engaged as they “let the good times roll” and danced the night away. In a truly meaningful moment during the event, former camper Bailey Ferguson talked about how much Camp meant to her, saying, “I loved my time at Camp for All.  It is a place where you can just be yourself and never worry about your disability.  You feel free and have so much fun.” Bailey’s heart-warming story evoked smiles and even a few tears throughout the room.

Camp For All 2U provides a summer camp experience for children unable to leave the hospital

Supporters rappelled The Woodlands® Towers to benefit campers with challenging illnesses or special needs

HOUSTON (April 24, 2024) – On Saturday, April 20, Camp For All successfully hosted its annual Over The Edge event at The Woodlands® Towers — thanks to Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HHH). Camp For All is a local nonprofit that transforms the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs. Partnering with more than 65 other nonprofit organizations, Camp For All delivers a barrier-free camp experience for nearly 9,000 campers each year.

Funds raised at Over The Edge help to support the campers that Camp For All welcomes each year at its 206-acre, barrier-free facility in Washington County. Forty-nine charitable supporters rappelled down the 31-story The Woodlands® Towers and raised a record total of more than $200,000 for Camp For All. Friends, family, and community members cheered on the participants from the terrace and greeted them upon landing. The “landing zone” also included a pop-up market that celebrated the talents of local adults with disabilities hosted by the nonprofit’s young professionals group, Emerging Leaders. Camp supporters enjoyed listening to music while they shopped and watched the rappellers on the terrace. Additionally, for the first time this year Camp For All provided a “virtual” rappelling experience. The virtual experience provided an opportunity for those who were unable to physically rappel off The Woodlands® Towers, proving once again that Camp For All strives to be inclusive and barrier-free in its activities.

 Barrier-Free Camp Brings Rappelling Experience to Woodlands Office Tower

HOUSTON (February  29, 2024) – Camp For All, a local nonprofit barrier-free camp experience that transforms the world for nearly 9,000 children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs, will host its annual Over The Edge fundraiser and rappelling event in The Woodlands, Texas. The annual event will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, with fundraisers rappelling over the edge of 9950 Woodloch Forest Tower, a 31-story office building—one of two Class AAA premier buildings, part of The Woodlands® Towers at The Waterway— thanks to Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HHH).

Camp For All aims to raise $180,000 through this annual fundraising event. For the past two years, the organization has successfully beat its fundraising goal thanks to generous donors and individual rappellers who commit to raising a minimum of $1,500 to secure their spot. Family and friends of rappellers are encouraged to attend throughout the day and cheer on the daring supporters who choose to scale the building.

With first rappellers gearing up as early as 8 a.m., their journey down will begin on the rooftop and end on the spacious 11th-floor rooftop terrace, for a 20-story descent. This year’s Over The Edge will be even more accessible, with rappellers having the option to take part in a virtual reality (VR) rappelling experience in lieu of the traditional rappel. Camp For All is able to accommodate up to 70 participants as long as they meet the fundraising requirements. The virtual experience will make our participants feel like they are rappelling down the side of the building while never leaving the ground. Camp For All looks forward to making this event barrier free and available to anyone who is ready for an adventure.

The nonprofit welcomed supporters to the greatest show on Earth

HOUSTON (January 31, 2024) – On January 27, Camp For All hosted its sold-out “Under The Big Top Gala” at The Revaire, which welcomed nearly 600 guests. The gala raised more than $1 million which will continue to support its mission of transforming the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs through barrier-free experiences. 

The evening honored Ginger Bertrand, her late mother Sybil Roos, and their families for their longtime support and dedication to Camp For All.

Co-chairs Yésely Love, Stephanie Magers and Caroline Walter excitedly welcomed guests for a wonderful evening that featured inspiring personal stories from past and current Camp For All campers, a silent auction, wine pull and a fabulous live auction boasting once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including a luxurious vacation retreat to Aspen, a four-night stay at the exquisite Sedona Piñon Woods, and an extraordinary opportunity to tour contemporary artist Hunt Slonem’s studio in Manhattan. Slonem is known for his bunny paintings, one of which was part of the auction.

Throughout the evening, Masters of Ceremonies Ilona Carson kept the energy level of the crowd high. In a moving moment during the gala, Kristen Moreno, the mother of longtime camper Claire Moreno, shared touching memories of her daughter’s six years as a Shriner’s Hospital camper at Camp For All. Claire is non-verbal and lives with cerebral palsy as a result of having been born premature.

“Camp For All provides so much more than a week of summer fun for its campers. It provided Claire the opportunity to be out from my watchful eye. To prove to both of us that we can survive without being tethered to each other,” said Kristen. “Claire always came home a little more mature, more verbal, and more outgoing. There is not a year that goes by now without Claire asking when and where she’s going to camp thanks to those first successful summers at Camp For All.”

On October 12, 2023, the Camp Friends Board welcomed supporters to Star Place at Camp For All in Burton, TX for an inspiring evening that included heartwarming camper stories and an opportunity to honor those whose long-standing dedication to the organization has positively impacted the community. The celebratory event raised more than $320,000.

Local Nonprofit Celebrated Three Decades of Barrier-Free Life Changing Experiences 

HOUSTON (January 23, 2023) – On January 21st, Camp For All hosted its 30th Anniversary Gala, at The Revaire, to kick off a year-long celebration in honor of three decades of transforming the world for children and adults with challenging illnesses or special needs through barrier-free experiences. The gala raised more than $1.2 million. 

Co-chairs Laurie and Chris Baker and Debra and Steve Gilbreath excitedly welcomed guests for a wonderful evening that featured inspiring thoughts from past and current Camp For All campers, a silent auction, wine pull and a fabulous live auction boasting once-in-a-lifetime experiences. In addition, the evening honored Martha and Buzz White and Patrick Samuels for their longtime support and dedication to Camp For All. The night also featured the reveal of a proclamation from the City of Houston designating January 21st as Camp For All Day.

Throughout the evening Masters of Ceremonies Lisa Malosky and Angela Wrigglesworth kept the energy level of the crowd high. In a particularly moving moment during the gala, Camper Mayra Delacruz shared touching memories of her Camp For All experiences. At the age of two, Delacruz was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Delacruz’s outlook and future changed when she entered the Camp For All grounds.

“My outlook and my future changed when I stepped onto the Camp For All grounds,” said Mayra. “My first time attending Camp For All was at age 14 through Easter Seals, Camp Smiles. I was a scared and timid child who had never ventured out of her parents’ protection, stepping into the world outside her bubble. That week, I had fun doing activities that I never thought would be possible for me: ziplining, canoeing, and riding a horse. This initial experience allowed me to gain knowledge of the greater disability community and step out of my comfort zone.”
